My name is Jay Neary, owner of Neary Financial Planning, and a registered representative with Core Planning, a Registered Investment Advisor and fiduciary.
I am grateful to be a part of the community with Core Planning, a community that shares similar core values and a desire to build together. Core Planning supports advisor independence, while also offering shared resources, infrastructure, and professional collaboration. As an advisor within the Core Community, I am grateful for the freedom and flexibility to deliver personalized financial advice for my clients.
As founder of Neary Financial Planning and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERⓇ, I launched Neary Financial Planning to build a truly client focused financial advisory practice. It is my goal to ensure Neary Financial Planning is available to a broad audience, with no asset minimums, and for a competitive fee.
I am grateful to have over a decade of experience as a financial planner, the majority at a mid-sized regional Registered Investment Advisor, as well as having worked for a large nationwide Registered Investment Advisor. I had the opportunity to learn and grow with incredible colleagues over this time, and I also had the privilege to work with hundreds of households, each with their own unique story to tell and goals to share.
I often tell clients that financial planning and investing is a marathon and not a sprint. Important financial decisions should not be rushed. I am a teacher at heart, and I offer an educational approach rather than sales-based approach, when working with clients and prospects. Financial decisions have a profound impact, and I believe it’s important to proactively collaborate with accountants, attorneys and other relevant professionals in order to make informed financial decisions.
Utilizing my experience as a financial advisor, I have had the opportunity to support causes in the community that are important to me. One of the causes that I have supported extensivey has been helping indivudals with a cancer diagnosis navigate personal finances. As part of this journey, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with a local team of professionals to help build financial planning workshops at a local Cancer Center, and to educate patients and families about personal finances while facing a diagnosis. This work has led to additional financial planning workshops in collaboration with other non-for-profits, blogging on relevant financial topics, as well as offering 1:1 pro bono services for individuals and families impacted by cancer.
Personally, my wife and I stay entertained with our four children. We love spending time outdoors, especially in the Wisconsin Northwoods. When not working, I enjoy gardening, planting burr oak trees from seed, and growing fruits and vegetables. I also enjoy reading historical non-fiction (I was a history and economics double major), writing blog posts on various financial topics, volunteering with our church and playing folk music on the guitar.
I believe this model offers the greatest flexibility over the client experience and it offers creative space to deliver personalized financial advice to each client. It is my mission to ensure my clients have a voice at Neary Financial Planning, that they feel valued, important and cared for. I believe operating as a small business can also offer the advantage of adaptability, an important trait when navigating business and market changes and evolving software and technology.
The Client: At the heart of our business is the client. This is not our money, it is yours, and as our client(s), we will strive to educate, collaborate and advocate for you so that you can make informed financial decisions. Our promise to you is that no matter what your financial situation is, you will always be important to us.
Simplicity: We strive to keep things simple for our clients, while not compromising on sophistication, service and proactive collaboration. It is our goal to ensure you understand how your money can work for you, and we do our best to communicate this in a way that is easy to understand. At Neary Financial Planning, there are no hidden fees, hidden contracts, or sales commissions.
Education: At Neary Financial Planning, we emphasize an educational based approach while collaborating with clients on financial decisions, as opposed to a sales-based approach. Like the golden rule, “treat others as you would want to be treated by them,” we advise others how we would like to be advised by them too.
